Procastination is the bad habit of putting off things that you should be doing. It's something that we all do from time to time, but some of us do it more than others. If you're someone who struggles with procrastination, don't worry - you're not alone. In fact, there are a lot of people out there who have the same problem.

The good news is that there are ways to overcome procrastination. Below are seven of the most effective ones:


1. Set yourself specific and achievable goals

When it comes to overcoming procrastination, setting yourself specific and achievable goals is key. Having a clear goal in mind will make it easier for you to focus on what you need to do and stay motivated.


2. Set a deadline

If a project doesn't have a due date, it's easy to keep putting it off. Give yourself a sense of urgency by setting a deadline, even if it's just an arbitrary one that you create yourself.


3. Find an accountability partner

Sometimes it helps to have someone else keeping you accountable for your actions. Find a friend or family member who will check in with you regularly to make sure you're staying on track.


4. Eliminate distractions

One of the main reasons we procrastinate is because we allow ourselves to get distracted. If you're trying to focus on a task, eliminate any potential distractions from your environment. This means turning off your phone, closing social media tabs, and anything else that might pull your attention away from the task at hand.


5. Take breaks

It's important to take breaks when you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed. But be sure to set a timer so you don't end up taking too long of a break and getting off track.


6. Reward yourself

After completing a task or reaching a goal, give yourself a small reward. This can help motivate you to keep going and avoid procrastinating in the future.


7. Just start

Sometimes the hardest part of a task is getting started. But once you get going, it's usually easier to keep going. So tell yourself that you'll just work on the task for five minutes, and then you can stop if you want. Chances are, once you get started, you'll find that you don't want to stop.
